President Jokowi Welcomes Tanzanian President at Bogor Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (1/25) welcomed President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan at Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java province.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her entourage arrived at the palace at around 10:30 Western Indonesia Time and were welcomed by cavalry troops, troops in traditional attire, and marching band of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).

The welcoming ceremony was followed by the singing of Tanzanian national anthem Mungu ibariki Afrika and Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya, 21-gun salute, and an inspection of troops.

Afterwards, the two leaders introduced their respective delegates.

The two leaders then headed to the Teratai Room for a photo session and guest book signing. After signing the guest book, President Jokowi and his Tanzanian counterpart had a veranda talk and a teté a teté on the veranda of the palace.

The next agenda was planting a tree of peace followed by a bilateral meeting in the Oval room.

During the bilateral meeting, President Jokowi invited President Samia to participate in the second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) this year.

“To strengthen South-South Cooperation, especially economic cooperation, Indonesia will hold Indonesia-Africa Forum II. It is our fervent hope that Tanzania can participate,” he said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also expressed his gratitude to President Samia for her courtesy call that reflects the strengthening of partnership between the two countries in various sectors.

“I am sure this will bring benefits for our people, Indonesia and Tanzania,” the President added.

President Jokowi also expressed his condolences to the people in Tanzania who have been affected by floods and landslides last December.
