Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Emphasises Spirit of Asian-African Conference In Lead-up to 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum

Jakarta, Indonesia - Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pahala Nugraha Mansury invited Ambassadors of friendly countries, representatives of ministries/institutions, and heads of state-owned enterprises to the Afternoon Gathering and Information Session of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum and High Level Forum on Multi Stakeholders Partnership (HLF-MSP) on 28/6. The activity was held in preparation for the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF).

In his speech, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasised the importance of the spirit of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) in addressing global challenges such as conflict, economic decline, and climate change. 
 
He emphasised that the spirit of the KAA also guides Indonesia's relationship with Africa in working together to achieve the visions of both, the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045 and Africa's Agenda 2063. Both entities have tremendous potential for cooperation, with a combined GDP of USD 4.4 trillion and a population of 1.7 billion.
 
The Vice Foreign Minister further explained the plan for the 2nd IAF to be held on 1-3 September 2024 at Hotel Mulia, Bali with the theme Bandung Spirit for Africa's Agenda 2063 which will focus on issues related to economic transformation, energy and mining, food, health security, and development cooperation.
 
The 2nd IAF, which will invite African heads of state and hundreds of participants from various circles, will be organised in the form of meetings of heads of state, panel discussions, exhibitions, business matching, and various side events. As part of the 2nd IAF series, the first Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum will also be held.
 
Hendra Wahanu Prabandani, Director of Foreign Policy and International Development Cooperation of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, said that the forum themed Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnership for Development towards a Transformation Change will invite heads of state from various regions and several heads of international organisations.
 
Furthermore, he said that the HLF-MSP will consist of High-Level Plenary Session, Parallel Session, Gala Dinner, and Cultural Performance. The forum will be attended by representatives of governments, businesses, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, philanthropists and academics.
